Hi Sandy,
I agree... I think there are a lot of products out there that people have created - but which they simply don't know how to market. If you find these people, and if you know how to market things, you could do pretty well I think.
Just last night I saw an example of this. I was walking in an active part of the city with my girlfriend, and we were looking for a good restaurant. Anyhow, there was a guy who was selling a CD he had created himself, with 4,000 public domain books on it. He was selling it for $2.50. But he had no sign or anything - he clearly had no selling experience. He was just standing there holding up one of his CDs. And he was looking dejected because he hadn't made any sales.
My girlfriend (being the kind-hearted person she is) asked him what he was selling (it was hard to tell, since he had no sign). He perked up a little and explained his CD with 4,000 public domain books on it. She bought one (I think it was partly to help cheer him up)... I also mentioned to him that he should at least have a sign, because nobody who walked by had a clue what he was trying to sell...
The point I'm trying to make is that here was someone who had something to sell - who really didn't know how to sell it...
I think, if you want to be independent, some of the best knowhow in the world you can have is in sales and marketing.
Thanks Sandy for your post! I like your web site idea too... It's a good one! :)
