Thanks for your quick response. A few years ago, I did some advertising to try to generate some "private duty nurse" business. What I found is people were not willing to pay what a nurse can generate in the marketplace.

I have heard stories of wealthy families paying well for private home care, but haven't figured out just how to position myself in such a way as to attract those people.

Another area in which I have been trying to generate business is what is called in WA state, "adult family homes". There are many of them here and they have become pretty popular. They usually have 4-6 residents at a time and charge some pretty hefty fees. State law says they must have an assessment annually as well as pre-admission. This assessment must be done either by a Registered Nurse or someone with a Masters degree in social work. The going rate is about $130 for 2-3 hours of work.

So far, I have done a couple postcard mailings to these places in the region offering my services as an RN and listing my experience. My response has been pretty minimal. Each mailing generated one call each. I am working on ways to improve that and to create a better "sales piece".

In order to fill in some of the income gaps, I have been doing life and health insurance assessments for a company. Most of these are done on the phone from my home, but I am totally dependant on call volume and how many others are scheduled during the same time slots. I took this position to allow me the freedom to work on other income generating ideas. By itself, it does not pay the bills.

Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions would be appreciated.
