Hi Sandy,

I agree - I think it's important that a business "add value" to living in some way... This is what makes much business worthwhile and good! :)

I believe that without the various businesses around us, our quality of life would be much "poorer"...

It would be like life was under communism in Eastern Europe... Not much to choose from, and more poorly-made products which would be more likely to fall apart.

Apparently, when the Berlin wall came down in Germany, some people from (formerly communist) East Germany would drive on the "autobahns" in their poorly-made East German "Trabant" cars... There is no speed limit on the German autobahns, and Trabants are slooow. At night time, Trabant rear lights were also often barely visible. So the fast West German cars on the authobahns would tend to crash into the slow-moving Trabants, because they couldn't see them before it was too late!

I think this helps to show what business brings to a society... Without good "value-adding" businesses, you get little choice, and what choice you do get is often not of the best quality - like the Trabant cars.

Sandy, thank you for sharing your thoughts! :)

- Dien
